At the end of the 1990s, Thierry Pomel crossed paths with a young horse that would change not only his riding career but also his life. A few years after this first encounter, and after many years of training and dedication, Thor des Chaines took him to compete in the Sydney Olympic Games and the rotating final at the World Equestrian Games in Rome in 1998, where he won a silver medal.
Competing in the 1.60-metre discipline, this gelding, castrated at an early age, was one of those horses that elevate the discipline and, therefore, enhance the level of competitiveness.
Thor Des Chaines was a serious horse, very balanced in mind, determined when facing obstacles, and with great rhythm in the arena.
His rider, the Frenchman Thierry Pomel, has been one of the most internationally renowned, and together with THOR DES CHAINES they formed a partnership for the history books. They were selected to compete in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games representing France.
